Not satisfied with their "WINS" in bankruptcy court: shedding debt, shedding greyhound racing, extending hours of operation and alcohol service, elimination of the right of the host community to govern, and much else, Twin River threatened gloom, doom and destruction were they not granted more gambling.
Caught with their pants down by the bankruptcy judge, they were forced to recant.
Ooops!
Twin River says Massachusetts gaming won’t force bankruptcy
By Associated Press
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Rhode Island’s Twin River slot parlor has told a federal judge it will be financially viable even if Massachusetts approves casino gambling and Rhode Island does not approve table games.
The Providence Journal reports that Twin River casino gave U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Arthur Votolato a status update on Sunday.
Votolato had asked the Lincoln slot parlor executives to explain statements they had made to the General Assembly when pushing for legislation that would permit table games. The executives had warned lawmakers that without expanding to tables Rhode Island stands to lose casino business to Massachusetts.
But they told the judge that even without table gaming they won’t need to refile for Chapter 11 protection no matter what happens in Massachusetts.
