Loud Opposition To New Casino In Cloverdale

A public meeting to gauge public reaction to a new Indian gambling casino planned for Cloverdale showed that while there is some support, there's also a lot of opposition. Critics outnumbered backers by three-to-one among the speakers at the Citrus Fairgrounds this week. Most of the opponents cited concerns about damage to agricultural areas, traffic and related air pollution issues. The Cloverdale Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians is proposing the casino on 70 acres just south of the city.
