Mohegan Sun wants sign removed.

PALMER, Mass. (WWLP) – The 22News I-Team obtained a letter sent from Mohegan Sun to the Palmer land owners (Northeast Realty) it leases land from.

The letter sent from Mohegan Sun President Mitchell Etess has demanded that all signs on its land be removed in 30 days.

The letter states that if the signs aren’t removed Mohegan Sun says they would be able to default on their lease.

The letter also states specifically that political signs in support of Paul Burns must be removed.

Mohegan Sun has a 99 year lease on the land directly in front of Massachusetts Turnpike Exit 8 in Palmer. It had hoped to build a casino there, but Palmer voters rejected their plan in November.

Mohegan Sun has since partnered with Suffolk Downs in Revere and is attempting to win the Eastern Massachusetts casino license.

Paul Burns is a town councilor who supported the casino, but has also held Mohegan Sun accountable for saying that they would use that land in some other way instead of allowing it to remain undeveloped.
