From our friends at Stop Predatory Gambling:
Last week, 60 Minutes interviewed disgraced former lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Abramoff, among other things, worked with predatory gambling interests to avoid taxes, shut down potential competition, and legalize internet gambling.
When asked by 60 Minutes' Leslie Stahl how many congressional offices that Abramoff "owned," he responded: "We probably had a very strong influence in 100 offices at the time...I would view that as a failure. Because that leaves 335 offices that we didn't have strong influence in."
If you haven't watched the interview, watch it here and then be sure to share it with a friend. The Abramoff scandal highlights how government's gambling program is a failed policy and how it is eroding our democracy. It's why we work everyday to get government out of the gambling business.
