Our goals are greater than just halting casino development. We are fighting the right of Philadelphians to control their own destiny and to eliminate the corrupt processes that have plagued the city, using the issue of casinos as one example.

In this video, Casino-Free Philadelphia co-founder Daniel Hunter talks about how a coalition of Philadelphia residents came together and have successfully prevented casinos from being built for more than two years -- after being told by every politician, community leader and member of the press that casinos were a "done deal."

We hope this history serves as a model to other cities and a reminder of the power of ordinary citizens to advance democracy in their own neighborhoods.
