United to Stop Slots in Massachusetts
This Tuesday, September 13th at 11 a.m. in the well area in front of the State House.
Stand with us and other concerned citizens, organizations and elected officials who oppose the predatory gambling bill. We expect to have brief statements from representatives from the League of Women Voters, the Council of Churches, the Ma. Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers, The Green-Rainbow Coalition, Stop Predatory Gambling, The Mass Family Institute, Citizens for Change and many other organization. If you represent any organization that wants to be involved in the program, ask a spokesperson to contact us. (781-572-1163 or contact@uss-mass.org). After the Press Conference, those in attendance will be personally trying to communicate with the Governor and their Legislators.
As Renee Loth wrote earlier this week, "It's easy to be proud, even smug, about Massachusetts. We have some of the best-educated citizens in the country; progressive social policies; healthier lifestyles; an innovative economy; and culture, history, and natural beauty in abundance. The surrender to casinos signals the limits to our exceptionalism. Apparently, when it comes to the lure of easy money, we're just like all the rest."
