The number of Bay State residents filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection shot up 35 percent in the first nine months of the year, compared to the same period in 2008.
On a more hopeful note, Warren noted Chapter 7 filings had decreased in the third quarter of this year from the second quarter by 8.7 percent.
If the economic news continues to improve, some people weighing bankruptcy may reconsider, he said.
"Nobody wants to file for bankruptcy," he said. "It's a terrible thing to go through."
Personal bankruptcy is a devastating process for families
and it would seem that our leaders would be anxious to
prevent it and reduce the numbers.
Studies indicate expanded gambling increases the number
of bankruptcies. So, why would we support it?
