No More Casinos!

This situation helps me understand why the South called the Civil War the “War of Northern Aggression.” It’s about states rights. The feds come in here with their new Bureau of Indian Affairs rules and want to turn some of our towns upside down. Three new Indian tribes will mean three new casinos; you can count on it. Do we need three more casinos in Connecticut? The revenue is down with the two we have.

Instead of gambling, maybe the new Indian reservations, if we get them, will go in another direction. Maybe they’ll build vast indoor marijuana farms. It could happen. The present Indian casinos owe their existence to a state law from back in the day. It allowed casino gambling in houses of worship for fundraising. That was a loophole that made Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods possible. Today, we have a law that legalizes medical marijuana. See the connection?
