It has been reported by the researchers of Australia that the incidence of internet gambling is still higher in the country. The research was conducted by the researchers from the Sydney University and the Southern Cross University.

For long, the internet gambling has been attracting many a young mind but now it seems like more of the people in Australia are becoming the victims of internet gambling through online gaming. Dr. Blaszczynski from Sydney University said that internet gambling can lead to identity theft, fraudulent activities and cheating.

The researchers have asked the sites maintain gambling games to make provisions to assure that the personal details of the people are not leaked. It is believed that as the online gambling is easily available, many are become addicted of it in Australia.

For the research, the researchers questioned about 6,680 participants. The research is one of the largest researches on internet gambling. It has come to light that the expenditure of 450 participants has increased as they use their credit cards to play the game.

It further came to light that fewer percentages of online gamblers are concerned about the reliability of the sites. People are gambling online without even knowing if the sites are safe for usage. Internet gambling has become addiction for the young adults, single, unemployed and for those who are inadequately studied.

Blaszczynski was reported as saying, "This is a worrying trend as playing on offshore sites may result in identify theft, fraud, losing funds and cheating, leaving Australians with little recourse”. It is necessary for the authorities concerned to take immediate steps to deal with the worsening situation. If people are allowed to spend their money lavishly on gambling sites then there is possibility of them turning bankrupt.
